ARE YOU HITTING THE BALL FURTHER NOW THAN YOU HAVE BEEN?

-

It’s going a little further now, but it’s not constantly longer and straighter. If we hit it further every year, we’d be at a thousand yards!

I’m hitting it further than I was three days ago. I have the new Callaway Mavrik. It’s added seven metres.

Yes, I’d say so. I’m trying to get a bit stronger. I definitely hit the driver longer. Maybe not my short-irons, but they’re more controlled.

No, not really. I probably could. I’m probably not as efficient as I could be.

No, I don’t think I do, but hopefully I don’t hit it that much shorter, either. I’m 44, so I don’t expect to be hitting it further. I’m just hoping to stop the natural regression. On a good day I can hit it 290, maybe not 300 anymore, but my limit’s always been around there. My strength is my mid-iron play, so a lot of times it doesn’t matter too much if I’m hitting a 6-iron or 7-iron into the green.

I started to hit it longer when the new Pro V1 came out.

I’m hitting it further than I was in 2014, but the last four or five years, it’s pretty similar. I’ve never seen big changes in my driving distances.

Yes. The numberone reason is the ball. Number two is the driver heads. Number three, we’re all fitter and stronger. A lot of people play down the role strength and fitness has had on the game – it’s huge.

Yes. I changed coaches, so it may be a little bit of technique. Equipment has changed too.
