DO YOU HAVE A FITNESS REGIME?

-

Max Kieffer

Yes, in the gym. Mainly strength. Not much cardio. I have good genes.

Yes, I always have. It depends on the person’s body and how they swing it. You’ve got to factor all those things in to make sure you do the right stuff that’s going to complement your swing. I’m quite a stocky build so I do more flexibility. Cardio is more a vanity thing to try and lose a few pounds.

I take care of my diet. My wife is vegan, so I follow her. I go to the gym a lot when I’m back home, but at tournaments, not so much.

I try to. I like lifting weights, but I’m so inconsistent with it. When I’m at home I’m all right, and when I’m out here [on tour] I struggle.

I’ve been training quite a lot lately. It’s a mixture of cardio and strength. At tournaments, I train a couple of times a week; at home a bit more.

Yes, I go to the gym four or five times a week. The most important part is for injury prevention. There are power exercises to try and gain speed.

If I’ve got two, three weeks at home, I do stuff with my trainer in the gym. Out on tour, it’s maintenance work. It’s important to keep it going during the tournament weeks, but you’re not going to run yourself into the ground in the gym.

Not really. I have a guy that I see when I’m at home and he comes [to tournaments] maybe ten to 12 weeks a year. I’m not a gym freak.

I’m doing something every day at the minute, but generally four or five times a week. Strength and conditioning, a bit of mobility.
