atrick Cantlay arrived in the pro ranks in 2012 having topped the World Amateur Golf Ranking for 55 weeks, a record only later eclipsed by Jon Rahm. Although it took a little longer to establish himself than he might have hoped, Cantlay has now delivered in abundance on his amateur promise. He’s been a permanent fixture in the Fedexcup top 30 since 2017, climbed to seventh in the world and claimed two PGA Tour titles, including last year’s Memorial, where he crammed eight birdies into a spectacula­r closing 64 to reel in Major Champions Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer.
