The Shot Scope V3 is just 10mm thick, so it has a much lighter, more modern fit and feel on your wrist – not too dissimilar to the Apple watch. The tacky rubber strap is comfortable to wear and stays in position when swinging a club, so once it’s on, you really don’t notice you’re wearing it.

Screwing in the 14 tags to get the full functionality is time-consuming and a little fiddly, although you only need to do it once. During play, the only thing you need to remember to do is hit the Pincollect button when retrieving your ball from the hole to mark the pin position – everything else is done automatically. Post round, you may need to edit a shot or move the pin slightly in the app, but it’s easy to do. This has also been the case with other systems we’ve used.

Not only is the V3 an excellent GPS watch, but the additional benefits of the performance analysis mean it provides even better value for money.

The GPS information helps your strategy and also removes the need for a separate device, while the post-round insight lets you see where your strengths and weaknesses lie.

You can discover which clubs perform best in different situations and tailor your practice to the areas that need most attention. The slick design and how seamless the overall process is will appeal to the modern golfer. It isn’t perfect, but with regular use it has the potential to unlock lower scores.
