The UK’S best golf coaches
In this issue, we’re delighted to announce Golf Monthly’s new list of our Top 50 Coaches in the UK. The list has been expanded from 25 to 50 to more fully represent the exceptional level of instruction and support delivered by our incredible PGA professionals to a diverse pool of golfers across the country.
Our new Top 50 Coaches list, covered fully on page 46, comprises a combination of teaching professionals we have known and worked with for 15 years and more, plus new faces who have demonstrated their coaching knowledge and ability through their everyday work and our selection process.
Talking to PGA professionals, I am always struck by their passion and commitment to grow the game by helping golfers to improve and enjoy the sport more. We’re very aware there are hundreds of professionals across the UK providing a tremendous coaching service to club members and other clients, and that made it highly challenging to keep our selection down to just 50.
To do it, we asked golf students to nominate their coaches. Those coaches were then tasked with completing a detailed questionnaire assessing, among other elements, their knowledge of the swing and the game in general, their understanding of how to teach individuals and to build relationships and their breadth of experience in coaching different levels of golfers. After a judging process, the top 50 were selected.
A key objective in the expansion of our coaches list was to fully reflect Golf Monthly’s commitment to focus on diversity, equality and inclusion. The list features coaches who work with children, women, men, disabled golfers, high handicappers and elite players. It includes five female teaching professionals and coaches from a range of ethnic backgrounds.
We are extremely excited to work with our Top 50 Coaches over the coming years to produce content that is applicable and useful to Golf Monthly’s diverse audience. Whether complete beginner or scratch golfer, the right coaching will help you get more from your game, in terms of both performance and enjoyment. My first and strongest recommendation for those looking to improve in 2022 would be to book a lesson with a PGA professional.
