Skechers 2022 Go Golf shoes £80-£140

-

Skechers is renowned for its diverse range of lifestyle and performance footwear, and since making its move into golf in 2015, the brand has brought the same innovative technologies to the course. The headline technology in the latest Go Golf range is the Arch Fit insole, which was first introduced last year in two golf styles for men and women, but now features in the majority of Go Golf styles for 2022. This specially contoured insole is made with shock-absorbing polyurethane, designed to reduce pressure by distributing weight over a wider area.

It features in Skechers’ hero model, the Pro 5 Hyper (£140), a spiked shoe that comes in two colours. It also boasts a lightweight Hyper Burst cushioned midsole used in Skechers’ technical running and walking styles to boost comfort levels in golf. The innovative foam is created using a ‘Super Critical’ process with spherically shaped cells compressed into the midsole for long-lasting and resilient cushioning. This signature performance shoe will be worn out on tour this year by new signing Matt Fitzpatrick, a seven-time DP World Tour winner who already has five top-tens to his name this year.

Out-of-the-box comfort is a theme that continues across Skechers’ largest ever range, which also includes the sporty Go Golf Max 2 (£90), the versatile Go Golf Drive 5 (£90) and the cleated Go Golf Torque 2 (£95). There’s also the Go Golf Elite 5 Legend (£110), which has a redesigned Gripflex spikeless outsole (below right) that has multi-directional cleats and static lugs to help with stability and grip. Highlights in the women’s range include the Go Golf Max Fairway 3 (£80) and the Go Golf Walk 5 (£90).

Given the choice on offer for both men and women, Skechers’ stylish new line is sure to offer something for every golfer.

1. How involved are your tour pros with the design and creation of your shoes?

The feedback and insight we receive from our tour pros is key to the development of our entire collection of Go Golf footwear. We often conduct five to seven rounds of on-course product testing prior to production – delivering on our philosophy of “listening to the athlete”. Skechers works closely with athletes to thoughtfully implement performance aspects that include traction, stability and environmental protection, as well as aesthetics and advanced comfort features.

2. Explain the data behind your Arch Fit technology?

Our Arch Fit technology comprises a removable insole system developed with over 20 years of data and 120,000 unweighted foot scans. The podiatrist-designed shape is created to mould to your foot, reduce shock and increase weight dispersion, helping to provide enhanced arch support. You’ll really notice the difference.

3. With such a large range, how does a golfer choose which shoe is best for them?

Our line-up is centred on identifying desired product benefits and attributes which include, but are not limited to, aesthetics, breathability, waterproof features and replaceable softspikes versus spikeless. By offering consumers this simple hierarchy, golfers can easily spot their perfect pair of Skechers Go Golf shoes. To meet the demands of budget-conscious golfers, our range spans various price points. Regardless of which style is chosen, we feel like Skechers Go Golf products offer the best blend of performance, comfort and value in the market.

“SKECHERS’ NEW RANGE WILL CERTAINLY APPEAL TO A YOUNGER AUDIENCE – THE AESTHETICS HAVE REALLY IMPROVED” Joel Tadman, GM technical editor
