MAKE THE MOST OF THE NEW ME

After transforming her appearance, Kara Moore needs to find a wardrobe to match

-

Ihave just been through a year of reinvention. It all started when I decided to stop dyeing my hair. I’d been colouring it for 30 years and was sick of seeing grey roots after only two weeks. When the colour was half grown out, I could see I was going to look very different, so I decided to lose weight, too. I joined Slimming World and lost two stone in less than six months. By then, my hair had grown out and I was thrilled with the new me. But I’m still re-evaluating my wardrobe. I’ve always bought longerlength trousers, as I’m tall, and teamed them with baggy tunic tops. Now I’ve lost weight, I need to wear clothes that show off my new shape. I need some guidance to embrace the new me and make the most of myself.

THE FASHION BOOST

‘We wanted to give Kara the confidence to be brave and more modern with the clothes she wears. Silver sequins look stunning with grey hair, and by teaming such a head-turning top with jeans, we achieved a look that’s both relaxed and glamorous,’ says Jo.

LOOK AT ME NOW!

‘On first seeing the clothes, I didn’t think they’d fit – but they did!’ says Kara. ‘I’m confident now to stop saying the clothes are too tight when I’m in a changing room and to accept they look good. I’m 56, and before the makeover I thought I ought to tone things down, but I don’t think I should now! If I’m wearing the right things for my body, I don’t need to!’ Kara wears: top, £38, 8-20, Next. Jeans, £139.95, 8-18, NYDJ at John Lewis. Shoes, £175, 3-7, Russell & Bromley. Ring, £145, Lola Rose (lolarose.co.uk)
