‘I wanted our dining room to be elegant and warm. The room’s classical structure lent itself to large pieces of painted furniture,’ explains Vanessa. ‘We’ve travelled and collected treasures over the years, and in this room we’re able to display old maps from years spent in Muscat and Oman, and wine-box ends from vineyards in France. We found the fireplace by the side of the road in Normandy, and I had it cleaned and fitted by a very clever stonemason.’
