1993
Mel is at performing arts college when she answers an advert in The Stage to find members for a new girl band.
1996
The Spice Girls have three number one singles and their debut album, Spice, tops the charts in 17 countries, selling over 19 million copies worldwide. They become the fastestselling act in the UK since The Beatles.
1997
Spiceworld the album and film prove to be huge hits. The girls perform at the Brit Awards, with Geri Halliwell wearing the Union Jack dress that became synonymous with Girl Power and Cool Britannia.
1998
There is shock when Geri leaves the band. The remaining girls release the single Goodbye. The same year Mel C releases When You’re Gone with Bryan Adams (left), her debut non-spice Girls single.
1999
Mel records Northern Star, and Never Be The Same Again, from the album, is her first number one single.
2000
The Spice Girls receive the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award at the Brits, but in December announce they will be focusing on solo careers.
2007
Tickets for the first London date of the Return Of The Spice Girls world tour sell out in 38 seconds.
2009
Mel makes her musical debut in Blood Brothers (right) and is nominated for Best Actress at the Olivier Awards. She gives birth to her daughter, Scarlet.
2010
The group team up with Jennifer Saunders to develop a Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever!
2012
The girls reunite one final time to sing at the London Olympics closing ceremony.
2017Mel
tours with her latest album, Version Of Me.
