This Summer, make a date to share some tea and cake – and unite with friends and family for Breast Cancer Care
There’s nothing quite like a good cuppa, a slice of cake and a chat with your friends and family – and it’s even better if you know you’re raising money for a vital cause. Every 10 minutes, someone in the UK is told they have breast cancer, and it changes everything for both them and their loved ones. But with your support this Summer, Breast Cancer Care can be there for more people, from day one.
When people affected by breast cancer stand together, they are stronger, better cared for and better informed. However you host your Afternoon Tea for Breast Cancer Care, whether you bake or buy your goodies, every penny counts. Just £5 helps the charity run its Someone Like Me phone service, so people with breast cancer can talk freely and regularly to volunteers who understand. A donation of £10 could provide valuable information packs to 10 people, while £25 funds training for facilitators to help people with breast cancer after their treatment.
Breast Cancer Care will send you a free fundraising kit containing everything you need to help you plan your Afternoon Tea, including invitations and menu ideas. There are extras, such as recipes, quizzes and bunting on their website to inspire you, too. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to put the kettle on!
Christine from Doncaster held her Afternoon Tea with family and friends, raising a fantastic £218 for Breast Cancer Care. ‘This was a personal thank you for the support I received,’ says Christine. ‘During my chemo and radiotherapy treatments, I could laugh, cry, vent and listen – knowing I was not alone and that my emotions were normal kept me positive. Now I’m looking forward to many more Summer get-togethers!’
