THE GH TREND EDIT 40 of the season’s top looks
We’ve picked 40 of the season’s new looks to take you straight into autumn. From the freshest colour combinations to gorgeous accessories, here’s your guide to what to wear now
1 GO FOR GLITZ
Disco fabrics for daytime is a recurring theme, and is easy to achieve by adding some metallic to more traditional outfits for instant ‘ooh’ factor. Try gold and navy together – a beautiful luxe combination – or wear metallics with tweed and knitwear!
2 TRY HEAD-TO-TOE RED
Red is a hot trend right now, with many designers showing all-over colour. And there’s a shade to suit everyone. If an all-red look is too much for you, just add in a statement coat, handbag or shoes.
3 NEW LABELS YOU’LL LOVE
Plus one Royal favourite making a welcome return
EUDON CHOI FOR MODERN RARITY ‘Eudon has created a stunning, five-piece limited edition collection showcasing his signature cuts and tailoring skills that perfectly complements our Modern Rarity collection for Autumn,’ says Jo Bennett (above), head of buying for womenswear at John Lewis. ‘The frill hem coat in the finest Italian fabric is a timeless shape reworked with a modern twist. And the level of quality and craftsmanship involved ensures it will be an investment piece for years to come.’ STELLA JEAN FOR MARINA RINALDI Famed for designer looks for women of every shape, Marina Rinaldi’s second collaboration with Creole designer Stella Jean (left) is full of eclectic touches fusing print and colour with lavish details. ‘I’m suggesting a union of different cultures and symbols, Cuban influences and Italian Liberty-style motifs for the multi-faceted woman,’ says Stella of her truly individual style. KITRI
Founded by Haeni Kim (left), you won’t find Kitri on the high street. Costs are pared right back because it’s online only, with new additions weekly. ‘I felt there was a gap in the market for attractive, well-made quality clothes,’ says Haeni. ‘Our handwriting is distinctive – classic with a playful twist – paying great attention to detail and luxe touches.’ ISSA (It’s back!)
Kate Middleton loved the Brazilian brand’s understated glamour. ‘We’re so excited to bring Issa back to the market,’ says Jakki Pay (left), director of design at House of Fraser. We’ve worked hard to stay true to the brand’s ethos of creating dresses in silhouettes and styles that make women feel comfortable, confident and stylish while adding our own design direction to bring our customer something truly unique.’
4 STRAP HAPPY
More than just a timepiece, new watches are fashion statements, too – with stylish straps adding to their appeal.
5 GET IN THE PINK
Brighten up the dullest winter days with this flatter-all colour. Make it work for you by wearing just a hint of pink in a floral print, keeping it simple and bold with a coat or trousers, or dare to wear the shade head to toe.
6 TRADITIONALUPDATE FABRICS
Tweed is reworked with velvet, while a classic ribbed sweater is oversized and reinvented in a bright colour. Update a floral print dress by wearing it with ankle boots (in red – they’re a must-buy).
7 PLEATSPLEASE
Last year’s metallic pleated skirt is still a strong look. Kilt styles are making an appearance, too (see J Crew’s version with tulle and embellishments), as are knife-pleated maxis.
8 MAKE IT MIDI LENGTH
This flattering hem has been a big hit on the catwalks. Wear with tall suede boots and pick a velvet floral print with pretty draped sleeves for a Seventies vibe.
9 PICK MILITARY DETAIL
A military-style jacket gets a glamover worn with this must-have metallic pleated skirt. Versatile and forever chic, it will look just as good with your jeans as it will with elegant wide-leg trousers.
10 SCARFKNOT A
Silk scarves are having a fashion moment – to be worn as belts, tied around handbags, as well as knotted around the neck (think casual French style).
