‘I’ll be on the golf course by 10am on New Year’s Day!’

BBC Breakfast presenter NAGA MUNCHETTY enjoys cosy nights in, partying with pop royalty and getting in the swing with golf.

Iwent to Kylie Minogue’s 50th birthday party in London earlier this year and it was one of the most glamorous things I’ve ever been invited to. We’d interviewed her on BBC

Breakfast, so she asked us along. But for me, the best celebrations and nights out are those impromptu ones where you laugh with friends. I don’t really do the whole glitz and glamour thing – I like dressing up every now and again, but because I wear nice things to work and have to have my make-up done, you become quite blasé about it. I’m happiest in jeans, trainers and a hoodie.

I’ll walk out if a party is bad. Honestly, I’d rather just leave. Life’s too short to spend time with boring people in boring places. The older you get, the more you realise you don’t have to do things you don’t want to do. I’d much rather be at home cuddling up on the sofa with my husband and cats! We have three, Missy plus kittens Zena and Bella. We got the kittens after my cat Max died earlier this year, so extending our family has definitely been one of my highlights of the past 12 months. After a very sad start to 2018 losing Max, we’ve got new love, bounce and life in the house. My husband now lives with four females including me, and he absolutely adores it.

This New Year’s Eve I’m going out with friends to the local golf club. I’ll be in bed by 2am, have a decent night’s sleep and be on the course by 10am on New Year’s Day. I play as often as I can – I’m really going to focus on my golf in 2019! I hope that in the new year we can all get a new release of energy and some positivity. I’d like to see development in politics globally and domestically where we can feel more hopeful about the future, feel energised and people have a reason to be optimistic and go out and fulfil their dreams.
