SEA THE WORLD
FEBRUARY’S ROUND-UP OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS AFLOAT BY TRAVEL EDITOR DAVID WICKERS
Holidays afloat
Ship and Shore
Raptors, dog sleds, Tlingit tribal history, locally brewed IPA, totem-pole carving, Gold Rush grave sites, reindeer sausages and more are on offer on the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Alaskan voyages. Both on board and on shore, these experiences, along with destination experts, will feature on the Seven Seas Mariner cruises. From £6,349pp for a week, including flights, wi-fi, excursions, drinks, gratuities, transfers and speciality restaurants (rssc.com).
FOOD HEROES
Guests on selected P&O sailings this year can join Marco Pierre White, master pâtissier Eric Lanlard and wine expert Olly Smith. There will be several opportunities on board P&O’S newest Lng-powered ship, the 5,200-passenger Iona. Launching in May, it’s the largest built to serve the UK market. Passengers will be able to meet and learn from these culinary professionals (pocruises.com).
INSPIRED SILLINESS
A new show, exclusive to Princess Cruises, recreates the early works of puppeteer Jim Henson, creator of TV programmes such as The Muppets and Fraggle Rock. Each 30-minute performance of Inspired Silliness will feature singers and dancers bringing comedy, music and puppetry to life. It will be shown on the company’s newest ships, Sky Princess and, due to launch in June, Enchanted Princess. A seven-day Eastern Caribbean voyage on Sky Princess, departing 22 February from Fort Lauderdale, visiting Princess Cays and St Thomas (Bahamas) and St Maarten, costs from £999pp (princess.com).
