WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

Getting published in the first place was a big one! I was also immensely proud when I got the Sunday Times No 1 with Behind Her Eyes – not just for me, but for the whole team behind the book. Now it has been filmed for Netflix and is airing this year; I’m immensely proud of that, too. However, I think I’m most proud of when Stephen King first read a book of mine and loved it. I’d grown up reading his books and I was shaking when I found out.

WHAT IS YOUR WRITING ROUTINE?

I always thought it sounded cool to be the kind of writer who writes all night, but I’m more of an ‘up with the larks, big cup of tea’ person! I often have more than one project on the go (now I have three TV projects, a film and

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO WOULD-BE AUTHORS?

I’m not a fan of giving advice because we all find our own path, but I would say don’t get caught up in the whole ‘being an author’ thing. Concentrat­e on the work and take that, but not yourself, too seriously. Limit your time on social media. And don’t take rejection personally!
