Me, my selfie and I

SARAH SOLEMANI, 34 We ask the actress, writer and playwright to take a selfie – and reveal all

- Sarah stars in ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ (in cinemas 16 September) and the second series of ‘No Offence’, on Channel 4 this autumn

Who is your best friend?

I have to pick three: Eddie, Jess and Golnar. We’re four best mates from school and we come as a package.

What is your biggest regret?

I think about it often – the salads were dressed 20 minutes too early at my wedding. You have to make a decision whether you’re going to be a bride or a guest, and I thought no, I’ll be a guest, so I just ate and drank up.

What’s your biggest extravagance?

My Tom Ford military coat. I brought it last year and I wept – partly at the beauty of his tailoring and partly at the battering of my bank balance.

What’s your type?

Intelligent, kind, humorous but with an edge, a bit of spunk.

When was the last time you were embarrassed?

Probably Brexit. How do I not know my country? How am I not in touch with what my country feels, and what [people are] worried about? It was a real moment of reflection.

When was the last time you lost your temper?

Filming a scene from [Channel 4 show] No Offence. I play a detective chief inspector so I’m the boss and my character gets very angry. Acting gives you an outlet for your rage.

What from your past would you like to delete from the internet?

Any time I’ve done a nude scene and someone’s screengrabbed it and put it online. You google yourself and just see a big pair of tits. I mean, they are great tits.

Who owes you an apology?

If I thought I was owed anything by anyone I wouldn’t be free, and I am a truly free person.

Who or what would go into your room 101?

It really annoys me when coffee shops don’t add the sugar themselves. You wouldn’t go to a sandwich place and get a box of margarine at the side of the door by the bin – I want my product assembled. I don’t know why there hasn’t been more of a social movement to combat that.

Can you tell us a secret?

If I wanted to I could probably grow a full beard.

What’s the biggest misconception about you?

I went to Cambridge University. Often people who go to Oxbridge are thought of as being from privileged backgrounds, but I went to state school.

Who do you miss the most?

My mum, for the obvious reasons. She died when I was 16.

What is your biggest life lesson?

If you know better, you do better. It means that knowledge is power and when you’re lucky enough to access knowledge, then you have the power to act on it.
