Who: beauty and health director Rose Beer What’s

your take on make- up when flflying?

I take my make-up off immediately on boarding and apply a rich, moisturising cream. Even if I scare my neighbours with Elemental Herbology Nutrition Infusion Sheet Mask (a little ghost-like!), £35 for a pack of 4, they’ll soon appreciate the divine smell.

Which foods keep you energised?

I don’t eat plane food and pack my own picnic, or pick up juices, porridge and fruit at the airport. A banana always works to energise pre-landing.

What’s your SPF golden rule?

Being very fair, I wear SPF 50. I apply it immediately after my morning shower and before I get dressed, to ensure I don’t miss anywhere. My choice for summer? Avène Cleanance SPF 50, £16.

To what extent does your fragrance depend on your destination?

It doesn’t really – it depends on my mood. I love colognes. And while citrus notes smell so fresh, clean and uplifting, there’s something about earthy, more masculine notes that, when used sparingly, linger beautifully on summer skin. My pick? Miller Harris Le Cèdre, £165.

What chances do you take with your make-up when abroad?

When I am on holiday, I try not to wear make-up to give my skin some much-needed time to breathe, but I enhance my eyes with a quick scribble of Trish Mcevoy 24-Hour Eye Shadow And Liner in Smokey Emerald, £24, and swipe the subtly tinted Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector, £33 (part of a set), across my lips.

What wouldn’t you travel without?

A silk eye mask, This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, £18, and Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath & Shower Oil, £45. I get terrible jet lag and they all help me on my way. Also hand sanitiser and Emergen-c Sachets, £13.99 for 24, to stop me getting sick.

Top packing tip?

I travel a lot so keep a pre-packed wash-bag with separate products to those I use every day (a real beauty editor perk). It means that I don’t leave anything behind – and minimises packing time. New additions include Institut Esthederm Micellar After Sun Shower Gel, £18, and Bamford Botanic Sugar Polish, £35, to buff dry patches.

How do you unwind/get headspace?

I always take a camera on holiday – it means I can leave my phone in my hotel room, too. Checking emails from your sun lounger is a depressing habit! I also read non-stop and try to swim. I love the breathing app Pranayama. Personal trainer Lee Mullins of Workshop Gymnasium introduced me to it and I’ve found it hugely helpful.

When in the heat, what’s the best alternative to a bath?

I still take baths, but run them cooler and tip in House of Intuition Moonlight Bath Bags, £9.50 – they’re so practical and are a lesson in aromatherapy. I also light a dinky version of my Diptyque candle. A cold shower isn’tisn bad either – it soothes sun-licked skin and locks moisture into my hair.
