PARIS GOES WILD WITH GODFATHER MACAULAY

-

YOU' D THINK that being in the public eye since they were both children might have lessened Paris Jackson and Macaulay Culkin’s ability to surprise us (think Macaulay’s divorce from his parents and his tribute band to pizza, The Pizza Underground).

But last week, Paris, 19, and Macaulay, 36, who is her godfather, raised eyebrows once again when they got matching tattoos of spoons on their arms – said to symbolise overcoming addiction and hardship.

‘There are mutterings that this isn’t a healthy relationship because of their individual struggles,’ said an insider. ‘Paris’s mother Debbie Rowe is said to be especially concerned, but Paris insists she and Macaulay have a close bond.

‘They don’t have a traditional godparent-godchild relationship, and they’ve had wild nights out together as well as sleepovers at his house. Macaulay certainly doesn’t try to tame Paris at all and that’s where some of the worry is coming from.

‘She’s already a wild child and when she’s around him she likes to impress him by doing crazy things. There’s no telling what they might do next.’

Paris – who already has over 50 tattoos – opened up about her battle with depression and drugs in a magazine interview earlier this year, revealing she had attempted suicide in June 2013. ‘It was just self-hatred,’ she told Rolling Stone magazine. ‘Low self-esteem thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore.’

Rumours of an addiction problem have long plagued Macaulay, though he has previously declined to comment. The actor became Paris’s godfather aged just 17, after forming a friendship with Michael Jackson (he starred in the singer’s video for Black Or White in 1991). He later admitted to having slept in Michael’s room when he was called as a defence witness at the singer’s molestation trial, but claimed any suggestion he had been sexually assaulted was ‘absolutely ridiculous’.

It follows reports last week that Paris – who signed as a model for Chanel earlier this year and is said to be worth $1 billion – has moved to a ‘hippy commune’ with her friends in Topanga Canyon. The bohemian village, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, has a population of just 8,289 artists and musicians.

Paris is said to be living in a wooden shack on a mountain with seven friends, including Prudence Brando – the granddaughter of actor Marlon Brando.

‘Paris has a tricky relationship with fame and is still trying to find her voice,’ added the source. ‘She loved the idea of joining a hippy commune – she’s learning a lot about spirituality and Buddhism and regularly meditates to calm her nerves.

‘For her, it’s an escape from the crazy world of the A-list. She often tells friends that she feels like an outsider in Hollywood and is still trying to find her feet. Her family are rooting for her but they just hope she doesn’t slip up along the way.’
