me, My Selfie andi

WINNIE HARLOW, 23

-

We ask the model to take an exclusive selfie – and reveal all

Who is your hero?

Beyoncé [below] – but I didn’t know it until I worked with her. She is strong and powerful yet graceful and feminine. A beautiful balance.

What are you most proud of?

My will to accomplish and conquer new things. Growing up I had a fear of the unknown, but I made leaps even when I was scared.

What’s your biggest regret?

Not sharing all of my story, and letting the media create my story for me. I’m so much more than my skin, but that’s what I’m always asked about, so I answer, and the cycle continues.

What do your friends tease you about?

My best friend teases me about being such a ‘tough guy’. I always muscle through my problems, but there are still times I’ll call her and cry at night because things get tough. Then the next day, I’ll be like, ‘Cry? Who me? Nah, thugs don’t cry,’ and she’ll just laugh like, ‘Yeah… right!’

What did you think about before falling asleep last night?

About how nice it was to be sleeping in my bed back in Toronto for the first time in three months.

Who do you call in a crisis?

My mom Lisa [top] or my manager.

What song do you never skip?

Drake, Signs, because he shouts me out in it: ‘You wanna supermodel pose like my real friend Winnie.’

What’s your go-to dinner party anecdote?

My best friend got shot last year and her story and how her positivity helped her heal is so inspirational to me that I love sharing it.

What from your past would you like to delete from the internet?

Anyone I’m supposed to have dated, because I probably haven’t.

Who owes you an apology?

The Daily Mail. I think they owe a lot of people apologies, though.

Tell us a secret.

I love singing – but I’d never do it in public. I’m too shy.

What’s the biggest misconception about you?

People don’t realise that my background is Jamaican. I speak Patois very often.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Remember how you feel about yourself, and don’t let anyone deter you from your confidence.
