Be a haute hipster in

LONDON

-

Take a trip to London and hang out in the east of the city, with its creative vibe and buzzing bars.

THE PLACE TO STAY The Ace Hotel in hipster Shoreditch, is a fab mix of industrial chic and mid-century modern with an injection of eclectic cool. The lobby-bar-coffee shop is filled with creative types sipping lattes and tapping their ipads, plus next door there’s famous retro record store Sister Ray Records. Upstairs in the bedrooms, the industrial monochrome is softened by lots of retro loveliness.

THE VIBE As the Ace is on Shoreditch High Street, you’re just minutes away from the street’s cult shops plus those on Redchurch Street. Brick Lane Market and Columbia Road Flower Market (both are best on Sundays) and Blitz London, the mega vintage shop ( blitzlondon. co.uk),k), are all nearby. Check out the street art, plus the nearby galleries such as Whitechapel ( whitechapel gallery.org), Hales Gallery ( hales gallery.com) and Studio Leigh ( studioleigh.com).

EAT You’re in street-food central with Brick Lane offering all manner of international dishes, plus Urban Food Fest ( urbanfoodfest.com) every Saturday. The Ace is also good for a night in – start with a pre-dinner drink in the Gallery Bar or Rooftop bar (you need to book). Then, dine at Hoi Polloi ( hoi-polloi.co.uk; about £ 50pp) and end the night at Miranda, the basement venue.

PACK No need to dress up, you won’t look out of place in a vintage Sunspel tee and Converse.

THE LOWDOWN Rooms at the Ace start from £163 ( acehotel.com). n
