Kourtney: ‘I’m pregnant too!’

After 10 years as America’s First Family, there is nothing we’d put past the Kardashians. But four simultaneous pregnancies? Kourtney Kardashian, 38, speaks to Hannah Flint...

‘ I’m pregnant,’ declares

Kourtney Kardashian, with all the gravitas of a newscaster announcing World War III.

My heart skips a beat. It’s only been a few weeks since news broke that Khloé and Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are all expecting (Kim via a surrogate). Surely even momager Kris Jenner couldn’t have engineered a storyline where Kourtney, the oldest sister, gets in on the act?

My willingness to believe her – she reassures me she’s joking after an uncomfortably long pause – is testament to just how much we’ve come to expect from the Kardashians over the last decade. In a world where we’ve seen everything from Kim snapping selfies on the way to dropping Khloé off in jail to Kourtney literally giving birth in front of the cameras, it seems there is nowhere these women won’t go in the name of entertainment.

‘Do I ever get worried that there’s nothing left to film?’ says Kourtney. ‘No, it just doesn’t happen. Right when we think, “Oh there’s nothing else,” something will happen.’

She’s calling me from her home in LA following her morning workout, and there’s a lot I want to ask. Is Kylie actually Kim’s surrogate? Do you hate Scott Disick for rebounding with Sofia Richie? Will you give your kids a spin-off show? Who will assume the role of momager when Kris Jenner retires?

Frustratingly, she won’t answer any of it, but she assures me another 10 years of Keeping Up With The Kardashians ‘could happen, for sure’. I obviously take that as confirmation that Kim, Khloé and Kylie are all carrying the next generation of the dynasty.

The family recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of KUWTK, so, knowing what she does now, would she do it again? ‘I’d still sign up,’ says the 38-year-old, without hesitation. ‘Every day I wake up and say a prayer and thank god for my job and my kids and my family. Everything has a downside, but to be able to work with my family… I do feel really blessed.’

As for anything she wishes she’d kept private, ‘ The first thing that comes to mind is sharing the birth of my kids on the show. But you live and you learn. If I started to think of regrets I would probably go crazy.’

Then she adds, ‘I was sitting in my doctor’s office recently and this woman came up to me and told me that they had to watch me giving birth in her birthing class. It was to prove it could be beautiful and calm and not people screaming at the top of their lungs and feeling so, like, frantic. I was so scared before I gave birth, but I had a beautiful experience. I’m happy I shared that.’

She insists that she does a ‘really good job of living the most normal life I can’ with her three children, Mason, seven, Penelope, five, and Reign, two. Nonetheless, the fascination with the Kardashians shows no sign of waning (who can forget Kim’s naked selfie last year?).

‘ We’re human,’ says Kourtney when I ask about the collective meltdown over the photo. ‘If we want to do something, then we just have to be ourselves. What allows us to be sane is just not to have to care so much about what everyone thinks. The pressure would be way too crazy if that was all that was on our minds.’

Her latest project is a collection with Pretty Little Thing, which she describes as ‘perfect for party season. I pulled inspiration from Studio 54, the ’70s, a little old Hollywood. I had the opportunity to design whatever I wanted, so I thought, let’s make it fun and festive.’

Kim had her say (‘I showed her different sketches and colour swatches. As sisters, we like to share things’), but, for fashion advice, Kourtney turns to Kim’s husband Kanye West. ‘I text him photos and ask if he likes my outfit,’ she says. ‘Or, if we’re all hanging out, I’ll show him different looks. He’ll give me really good advice, like, “You’ve done that kind of look already, change those pants.” He’ll make such a good suggestion and I will take his advice.’

She wants women to feel ‘fun and flashy’ when they wear her clothes. ‘ We all want to be living in the moment, to just have a good time and be happy and positive about whatever comes our way.

‘It’s about living your best life – being fun, sexy and carefree.’

Love them or hate them, I couldn’t have described the Kardashians better myself.
