‘ SELENA SHOULD STAY CLEAR OF JUSTIN’
AS Someone Who once said of her ex, ‘I am so exhausted, I am honestly so done, I can’t do it any more’, you’d think Selena Gomez might steer clear of Justin Bieber. Cue a collective eye roll, then, when the pair were pictured apparently ‘reconnecting’ over organic coffee at Pure Joi in LA last week. They were then seen four more times, just as news broke that Selena, 25, had split from boyfriend of 10 months The Weeknd.
According to insiders, the pair, who’ve had more stop-starts in their time than Brexit negotiations, are said to have ‘got back in touch’ to ‘make peace’ after Selena’s kidney transplant earlier this year to treat lupus. They started dating in 2010, split in 2012, were thought to have reunited a year later and were seen on a handful of dates in 2014 before seemingly splitting for good.
‘Selena’s family are desperately worried to see her back with Justin again,’ said an insider. ‘ They’ve seen him break her heart so many times and don’t buy the notion that he’s a changed man who’s finally seen the light. To them, he’s a master manipulator who’s disrespected Selena too many times. They’re convinced her recovery from illness was tied to the fact she wasn’t being stressed out by Justin and all his drama. Their biggest concern is that this could impact her health again.’
Last week, a family member went even further, telling US gossip website TMZ, ‘Justin is a vile human and will never be accepted by us. As long as she is speaking to him in any way, it is not only disrespectful to everyone around her, it is disrespectful to herself.’ It was previously reported that Selena’s mother, Mandy Teefey, privately referred to Justin, 23, as ‘Satan’.
Speaking exclusively to Grazia, Justin’s biographer Chas Newkey-burden added, ‘He has quite an addictive and obsessive personality, so I think he will find it hard to ever move on from her. But this time round, they have added perspective and maturity. It’s up to her to decide if it’s worth it, as it will be a bigger sacrifice for her than for him.’
