LETTER OF THE WEEK MOVED BY GRIEF

I cried – a lot – reading Holly Scott Lidgett’s beautifully written piece, ‘ Why I did it my

way’ (6 Nov). I don’t know why I cried, because both my parents are alive, but them not being around is my biggest fear. I commend Holly for her bravery for being so young and losing so much. She didn’t take months to recover but years, which is how I think I’ll feel when the inevitable happens. I applaud her throwing not a pity party but a proper party. I wanted to hug her and let her be my friend. A beautifully raw account of grief, it stopped me in my tracks. Debra
