In September, Katie Holmes finally went public with Jamie Foxx – her rumoured boyfriend of five years – and Hollywood-watchers did a collective air punch. Grazia had previously reported on persistent speculation that Katie’s 2012 divorce from Tom Cruise (masterminded by her lawyer father) included the unusual caveat that she couldn’t date anyone publicly for five years. So, when she and Jamie were pictured hand in hand on a Malibu beach just two months after the rumoured clause expired, it seemed to be confirmation that Katie was finally free of ‘Cruise control’.
Last week, Katie and Jamie made things red carpet official at a pre- Grammys party. But it seems that their happy ending hasn’t come without its own complications. Despite their smiles, insiders report that, behind the scenes, Katie has been forced to ‘lay down the law’ with Jamie over rumours that he has cheated.
One well-placed source told Grazia, ‘Jamie has a reputation as a ladies’ man and Katie has always been well aware of that and the scrutiny it causes. She knows not to pay attention to everything that is said but, recently, she’s been growing concerned that his penchant for partying has been getting out of control when there are other women around. She’s heard whispers from friends in the industry that his partying attracts female attention and with that inevitably come rumours.’
It’s not the first time such stories have arisen. Last year, a US magazine reported that ‘womanising cad’ Jamie had betrayed Katie with a Russian mistress (His rep dismissed the claim as completely ‘fabricated’.) In July,

Intouch reported, ‘ When Jamie is out, Katie becomes an afterthought... he acts like a single frat boy. His relationship [with Katie] is passionate, but he never intended to settle down.’ Elsewhere, he’s reported to have flirted with Eva Longoria and Olivia Munn. Jamie has not commented on these specific accounts but, according to our source, he has always insisted he’s never done anything wrong and that he’s committed to the relationship with Katie.
The insider continued, ‘ This has been Katie’s most important relationship since her marriage to Tom and it’s not been an easy one. Keeping things with Jamie secret was exhausting, and now their romance is no longer incognito, she wants reassurance that what she’s hearing is just hearsay. She’s terrified of getting hurt or, worse, publicly humiliated. She feels that after keeping their romance secret for so long, if it were to crumble within a matter of months of going public she’d be devastated. She’s laid down the law with Jamie, telling him that while she doesn’t believe everything she reads, the rumours upset her and they can’t have any secrets that could come back to bite them. Jamie has reassured her that she has nothing to worry about and that it’s all talk, but she’s treading carefully, and doesn’t want to have her heart broken after everything she’s invested in this relationship.’
Further complicating matters is Katie’s close bond with Jamie’s daughters from previous relationships, Corinne, 23, and Annalise, nine. The source said, ‘Katie has a great relationship with both girls and has been part of Annalise’s life since she was small. When her relationship with Jamie was secret they went for periods without seeing each other to stay under the radar, but this is no longer a casual fling and hasn’t been for some time. She needs to feel she can trust Jamie. Nobody wants to see her hurt again.’
