here’s to knowing what we deserve

-

What do women want? It’s a question that over 10,000 women were asked in a national survey in 1996. Fast-forward more than two decades and the survey has been repeated to find out what’s changed. What’s striking is how similar some of the answers are: we’re still asking for equal pay as well as an end to gender-based violence and victim-blaming. But there’s cause for optimism, too, because the What Women Want 2.0 survey, published last week, revealed what women believe they deserve. Instead of merely ‘wanting’ change, we expect it now. There’s an urgency to it today because we’ve called time on inequality. And that is surely a win to keep us driven.
