‘Loneliness is good for you’

-

(26 March) really irked me. Sure we all need alone time and some of us are hard-wired to need more time in our own company to unwind. I see nothing wrong with that and don’t see it being a real taboo. But going so far as to say loneliness is beneficial is farcical. It’s completely different if it’s self-imposed. Loneliness is a health hazard and seeing my father – with barely any company – at a loss to fill his time is heartbreaking. Plus being a new mother can be an incredibly lonely time for many. Kirsten It was refreshing to read that I’m not the only one who enjoys spending time alone. While I have a wide social circle and enjoy getting together with friends, I am truly comfortable with my own company. Next Monday, I’m taking the train to Manchester, shopping, having a spa and seeing a show all on my own! Bliss! Nikki
