Brad’s got wood!

-

HEARTBREAK FOR NORMS = getting so drunk you (momentarily) forget you got dumped, sleeping with someone very inappropriate and sitting in your PJS for three days/weeks. When it happens to Brad Pitt? He turns to carpentry.

According to an insider, the actor, who split from Angelina Jolie in 2016, is ‘throwing himself into woodwork’ at his friend and painter Thomas Houseago’s studio in Los Angeles. Brad, 54, is also apparently working with the furniture designer Frank Pollaro, who he created his own furniture collection with in 2012, on a conference table – said to be a special commission by a mystery buyer.

In exclusive images obtained by Grazia, Brad is seen working on a sketch for the table, selecting cuts of wood and spraypainting them with an intricate pattern. The actor is known to be passionate about design, and previously set up the Make It Right foundation, which enlisted architects to build affordable housing in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

Brad and Frank’s previous collection together included a bed (only nine were ever made, in different materials), as well as a dining table, cocktail table, a variety of side tables, a bathtub and some chairs. At the time, Frank described the price point as ‘typically at the highest end of the custom-furnishings scale, and these will be up there, even north of that’.

Last year, Brad admitted that he had turned to ‘manual labour’ following his high-profile split, telling GQ Style in that interview, ‘ You know, I surprised myself. There’s a lot of manual labour, which is good for me right now.

‘A lot of lugging clay around, chopping and moving and cleaning up after yourself. I find vernacular in what you can make, rather than giving a speech. I find voice there, that I need.’

Good for him, but we’ll stick to Ben and Jerry’s.
