LET’S GO DAY-GLO!

-

Isfw IF atthheissofspuamstemlsearre’ TH Sm swathes uch of pastels are much too sweet for your taste, it’s time to try something altogether more zingy. Enter: neons.

Highlighter hues – lurid lime and shocking pink, hi-vis yellow and electric blue – are having a moment, seen everywhere from Balenciaga to Stella Mccartney, on everything from hoodies to ballgowns.

Think you’re too grown-up to do Day- Day-glo? Glo? That fluoro is best left to club kids and construction workers? Thenththen Then prepare to adjust your attitude. Thanksththanks Thanks to refined silhouettes, these nouveau neons are elevated with an all-new elegance. Case in point: Lily Collins’ tangy orange Prada bustier worn over a tea dress at the Italian brand’s Cruise 2018 show in New York last week – see right. (Prada also championed these pack-a-punch shades for next season, so this trend is one to watch, not that you can miss it…) It was rave-meets-garden-party, and we want in.

And if you still find the idea of full-look fluoro a little intimidating, then opt instead for accessories. A pop of neon adds an unexpected jolt to muted shades and heritage fabrics, and is a subtle but effective move. Not that the woman in acid-greenanything ever cared about subtlety, of course.
