let’s get more women into film

Awards season is now in full swing, and the good news is that more women have been nominated at this year’s Academy Awards than in 2018. The bad? They were still absent from five whole categories, including Best Director, while only one woman was nominated for Best Original Screenplay. Which is why, this week, Grazia is launching our first-ever screenwriting competition to give more women in film a voice. After all, now is the perfect time to celebrate the power of female-led stories: this year’s biggest films, The Favourite and Roma, are competing for 10 Oscars each – and both place women front and centre.
