for a masterclass in effortless chic, see audrey hepburn in givenchy ...says Sir Paul Smith of 1957 film Funny Face, directed by Stanley Donen ‘It’s just so stylish. From the simple pinafore and spectacles Audrey wears in the bookshop at the beginning to the beautiful fashion pieces by Hubert de Givenchy she wears when she’s in Paris, it’s all so effortlessly chic. Audrey is just the perfect clothes horse for Givenchy. When I first saw it I was a young shopkeeper and designer in Nottingham, where Paris, Givenchy and Audrey felt a world away. The scene in the magazine office with all the colourful doors captured the spirit of the fashion industry and specifically fashion magazines at that time. It’s gone on to influence fashion shows, photo shoots and much more besides.’ 
