a white dress with a black bow is a seriously stylish combination ...says Alessandra Rich of Johnny Guitar, Nicholas Ray’s 1954 film ‘It’s a proto-feminist masterwork, a love story and a Western classic, with a strong female protagonist: a stunning Joan Crawford as Vienna. For most of the film she dresses in jeans and wears a gun. But I love the voluminous white dress, with a black bow, in the piano scene. She’s so strong and so feminine. She can ride a horse, play the guitar, lie to a lover or shoot a gun. This Trucolor, extra-sweet, excessive image influenced my Vegas collection and is one of my leitmotivs.’
