Victoria and David start ‘ new chapter full of fun’

- WORDS HARRIET KEAN

IT MIGHT FEEL like it was just yesterday that David and Victoria Beckham exchanged vows (and sat on those infamous marriage thrones), yet it was, in fact, Posh and Becks’ 20th wedding anniversary last week. The couple celebrated with a romantic trip to Paris, including a private tour of the palace of Versailles. It came a few days after they’d been spotted dancing alongside the likes of Kate Moss, Stormzy, Miley Cyrus and The Killers at Glastonbury.

It was a rather rare, fun and frivolous appearance for the couple who, at the end of last year, in the run-up to their milestone anniversary, were forced to deny persistent divorce rumours splashed in the tabloids.

If their Glastonbury appearance is anything to go by, those rumours really are history. According to eyewitnesses, the (usually serious and image-conscious) Victoria and David were seen laughing, dancing and cuddling at the A-list’s favourite late-night spot, Down The Rabbit Hole. Grazia’s spy even saw Victoria give David’s bottom a cheeky squeeze, and he picked her up to carry her when her sky-high heels suddenly didn’t seem like such a good idea.

The couple, who were allegedly ‘snogging like a pair of teenagers’, also shared happy photos of themselves on Instagram as they sang along to The Killers on the Saturday night.

This loved-up outing, as well as recent family trips to Miami and Spain, are firm indicators that the couple really have entered a new chapter in their marriage; one which is, says a source, ‘full of fun and renewed commitment to one another’.

Adds the source, ‘David and Victoria are putting their dramatic past behind them and setting a pact for the future. To start with, they are scheduling more quality time together, because David will be spending more time in Miami [where he is launching a football team] over the next couple of years. ‘ They have also agreed to turn down some work commitments so that they have more together time: in the past they have struggled with feeling distant because of work.’

Having been together since 1997 and raising four children, David and Victoria are now said to be taking stock of not only the highs, but the lows they have gone through together. ‘ They have grown up together in the spotlight and have worked to create this amazing brand – it’s so important to them,’ added a source close to the power couple. ‘It’s crucial that they stick together through the hard times as they’ve formed their own identity around each other – they would be lost without each other.’

David was criticised when he said during an Australian TV appearance last year, ‘Of course you make mistakes over the years, and we all know marriage is difficult at times. It’s about working through it.’ It does, however, look like, 20 years in, he and Victoria have managed to do just that.
