At the end of the day… Georgia May Jagger

I’ve just moved to Brooklyn to be with my boyfriend [restaurateur Louis Lévy]; we’ve been doing long-distance for some time now, so I’m really happy that I see him more. Right now, we’re settling into where we’re living, doing a bit of antique shopping, just sussing out the place.

The first thing I do when I get home is put on my silk pyjamas. Then I let my dogs out – Doctor Pepper, Gizmo and Edith, a rescue dog – and take them for a walk. Sometimes I’ll go for dinner at my boyfriend’s restaurant, Mimi’s, on Sullivan Street. It’s modern French cuisine with lots of fresh seasonal ingredients. I take my mum there sometimes.

I also love to cook;

I often make shepherd’s pie if it’s a big group of people, or any type of roast chicken. I had guests over the other day and I made Asian-style salmon and sautéed rainbow trout with sugar and soy sauce. I also made carrot cake but I stupidly left it out on the coffee table, so one of my dogs had some and had a sugar high.

I use my evenings to catch up with everyone. I usually call my mum and dad, because we’ve been living away from each other for a while. I’ll speak to my sister as well – we had a Glastonbury Whatsapp group where we chatted about which bum bag we were bringing, what reusable bottle we were taking. I’ve got a Kurt Geiger one. I am so happy Glasto banned plastic bottles this year.

My boyfriend and I like to watch Bake Off together. He’s really into it – he’s French and I feel like they don’t really have programmes like that in France. So we critique it in an English sort of way. We’re also really into Killing Eve, and we just finished Game Of Thrones. The final episode was amazing. It was pretty much all you heard people talking about in the streets in New York.

I try to leave my phone in a different room at night. I don’t think it’s good if you’re there with your boyfriend and you’re both scrolling through Instagram. You don’t want to be woken up by someone calling you at 4am. I never used to be into my phone, and I still lose it constantly. I had to find it this morning to do this interview – it was in my jacket pocket downstairs.

Once I’m asleep, I stay asleep. But the other night I couldn’t sleep at all; I was worried about a homeless man in West Village, so I went back out and gave him some cash. It bothered me because you don’t see things like that where I lived in London on a daily basis. London is so different to New York – people who have lived here their whole lives are obviously numb to it.

I used to be like an old lady and go to bed really early.

But because my boyfriend works nights, the dogs and

I are up until two in the morning pretty much every night. It takes me a while to get to sleep. I’ve always been that way, ever since I was a teenager; I would stay up chatting to friends on the phone, listening to records, painting, being teenagery. But now I like to get nine hours. Although I once stayed awake for three days. I was at Burning Man with my girlfriends – we were dancing and going for it. I think I had a nap but I didn’t get a proper night’s sleep for three days.
