Meet the autumn A-list
The best new-season beauty buys have just landed…
THE CHEEK OF IT
These nifty numbers are not your average blushers. With a spongy formulation that’s best applied with the warmth of fingertips and a mineral-rich blend to help mask pores, bareminerals Bounce
& Blur Blushers, £23 each, mean business.
FLORAL FLING
Transporting Chloé’s rose-laden signature scent to new heady heights, Chloé L’eau EDT, £62 for 50ml, sees fresh magnolia thrown into the mix, alongside jasmine and dewy oakmoss. Di-vine.
LIP SERVICE
Sample the sunset-toned delights of the Givenchy Le Rouge Deep Velvet in Orange Sable, £29. The powerful pigment means a couple of swipes is enough to make a statement, while mango butter keeps vibe-killing flakes at bay.
NEW FLAME
Filled with the signature Flora fragrance (think fresh white flowers balanced with crisp green ivy), Fornasetti’s new Rossetti candle collection, £155 each, are interiors investment pieces that you’ll treasure/instagram forever.
ESSENTIAL OIL
Parched pout? Let Revlon’s Kiss Glow Lip Oils, £8.99 each, fix that. The formula combines nourishing elixirs alongside a casual dose of mother of pearl, with vibrant shades that add a bold pop of colour without being as high-maintenance as a lipstick. Fancy.
CLAW BLIMEY
Dior’s latest collection of Diorific Nail Polishes, £22.50 each, boasts a couple of hot-stuff shades that we can’t get enough of – namely Charm and Passion. Sweep on a thick stripe of one next to a thin stripe of the other, leaving the rest of your nail bare, before finishing with a glossy clear topcoat, and prepare to reel in the compliments.
STICK IT TO ‘EM
A foundation needs to be pretty special to consider switching for, and Milk Makeup Flex Foundation Stick, £32, is exactly that. The nifty stick delivers seamless, mediumlevel coverage while the skincaregrade formula (think blue lotus to hydrate, camomile to calm and marshmallow root powder to stop caking) takes care of business. The slickest of sticks, in 36 shades.
DRUNK IN LOVE
If you liked the original, you’ll love this souped-up reformulation. Now with barrier-supportive ceramides to help defend against daily stressors, alongside the signature six African oils, Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream’s airy-light moisturiser leaves skin pillowy-soft and hydrated (£50).
FACE OFF
If you hoard single-use cotton pads to remove makeup, stop right now (thank you very much). Kind to your skin and the environment, Canvalite Reusable Makeup Remover Pads, £9.99 for 18, are made from super-soft bamboo fabric that can be machine-washed umpteen times.
DOUBLE DUT Y
Clinique’s Smart Clinical Multidimensional Age Transformer Duo, £60, combines two high-tech moisturisers in one pot. On the left, targeted polymers to lift and tighten the neck and jawline. On the right, hyaluronic acid in three molecular weights to plump up every layer of skin on the face. Win, win.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
Arm yourself with a large brush and sweep on some next-level glow with MAC’S Extra Dimension Skinfinish Trio: Among the Stars, £36. Three glitzed-up ice-cream tones deliver a diffused sheen that will last you well into the evening. Helios Honey works as a beautiful barely-there eyeshadow too.
SO SHINY
While the luxe gold design of Dior’s Diorific Lipsticks, £34 each, will no doubt pull in the beauty magpies, it’s the punchy Passion and Charm shades of their latest collection that we’re into. Layer them up if you’re keen to flaunt a real statement look, or tap on with your fingers for a barely-there stained effect.
CAPSULE COLLECTION
Can we take a minute to appreciate capsules? Elizabeth Arden’s new Vitamin C Ceramide Capsules, £72 for 60, ensure the potency of the vitamin C + ceramides formula doesn’t oxidise itself away. Simply twist open and apply.
SPRITZ THIS
A new Jo Malone fragrance is the beauty equivalent of the birth of a royal baby, so it’s fair to say that excitement levels skyrocketed when Poppy & Barley Cologne, £98 for 100ml, landed on our desks. Set to join the cult classic ranks of Pomegrante Noir, this new scent muddles fresh florals and woody barley.
ALL MOUTH
Keen to wear a confidenceboosting bold lip? Cast your eyes over the new additions to NARS’ classic Rouge A Levres, £22 each. The poppy tones of Inappropriate Red err on the pretty side of scarlet, while the metallic sheen of Cool It is a perfect match for a bronze eye.
DARK ARTS
Black is back, and it’s chicer than ever. Why? Because Chanel is in charge. A few coats of Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Pure Black, £22, offers up a glossy look that we’re coining the LBM (Little Black Mani).
EYES ON YOU
YSL Beauty Sexy Tomboy Eye Palette, £44.50, offers up six tortoiseshell shades of shadow which can be blended to create anything from a block tan base to a deep, warm fade of chestnut tones. Add a Kate Moss-esque dose of black kohl and you’re on to a winner.
POWER PLAYER
Daring, androgynous and unlike any other rose scent we’ve come across (and we’ve spritzed a lot), Frédéric Malle’s new Rose & Cuir, £135 for 50ml, swirls subtly sweet blackcurrant and spicy Sichuan pepper with all things leathery. Form an orderly queue.
KEEP CALM
Sensitive skins, meet Aesop’s Seeking Silence Facial Hydrator, £40. Antioxidant rich microalgae, ginger root, and an extract from dormant daffodil bulbs – who knew? – work to calm, hydrate and strengthen your skin.
TIGER TACTICS
Dubbed Tiger Grass due to sightings of the big cats rolling around in the herb to help heal their wounds, cica helps to repair dry and reddened skin.
Liz Earle’s Cica Restore Skin Paste, £29, is packed full of it and works nurturing miracles.
