Move over Gwyneth! Kate’s the new wellness queen

-

FOR TWO DECADES , Kate Moss was the poster girl for the party girl. Her debauched birthday parties would notoriously last for as many hours as the years she had been alive (her 34th, which began at The Dorchester, was actually said to have raged on for almost two days). If you were to see Kate out, she had a permanent cigarette in one hand and a drink casually dangling from the other.

But the Kate Moss of 2020 is a woman transformed: no booze, no cigarettes, regular yoga and even green juices. Who could have predicted that Kate, who was once nicknamed ‘The Tank’, would evolve into a Goop-esque beacon of wellness? Yet, as she posed for a new campaign for Dior on the beach in Miami recently, with glowing skin, perfectly toned abs and bright eyes, Kate was just that.

The secret to Kate’s glow is not just her sobriety, which she reportedly began in September 2017, says Graziaõs source, but a whole reformed attitude to her wellbeing. ‘Quitting drinking has allowed her to make lots of meaningful changes,’ said the friend. ‘She has given her diet an overhaul and ditched the junk she would often indulge in (her metabolism meant she could get away with eating whatever she fancied), and drinks tons of water and less caffeine.’

The source adds that Kate is also regularly going to the gym and practising yoga several times a week. ‘She even meditates now, using apps and Youtube videos.’

The changes, our source adds, have helped her feel more in control of her life. Kate is allegedly more positive, having moved away from certain friends ‘who party all night’, says the source, and instead spends more quiet time with her boyfriend, Count Nikolai von Bismarck, who she started dating in 2015. As he is also teetotal, the 32-year-old photographer has had a profound effect on Kate. A big wake-up call for Kate is said to have been an incident in 2015, when she was escorted off a plane for being ‘disruptive’, drinking vodka and allegedly calling the pilot a ‘basic bitch’.

‘Nikolai has made her feel like a new person,’ our source reveals, adding that he is fully supportive of her new rules, which include staying at a party for only an hour at most. ‘They are at their best with each other,’ our source adds. ‘Kate is very settled.’

According to another source, Kate’s decision to become teetotal has been so positive that she now gives out advice. ‘Kate has told friends and anyone struggling with their own sobriety that she’s never felt better. She maintains that giving up alcohol was the best decision she ever made – she is in the healthiest place of her life.’
