Loved up and low-key: Jennifer’s new lifestyle

-

AS THE WORLD’S A-list descended on Europe last week, sitting on the front rows at Paris Fashion Week decked out in designer gear, one notable regular was missing : Dior ambassador Jennifer Lawrence. Instead, the actor was seen out and about in New York, casual in jeans and sunglasses. It was a significant step in Jennifer marking out a new, low-key life for herself and new husband Cooke Maroney.

A source tells Grazia that Jennifer, who married art gallerist Cooke in a private ceremony last October, is working hard to stay away from the limelight. ‘She has really changed her philosophy on life and work since meeting Cooke and getting married,’ they say. ‘She used to be a big fan of the Hollywood scene, but these days she keeps it to a minimum.’ For Jennifer, stars like Leonardo Dicaprio and her close friends Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller have found the balance that she seeks: choosing projects and endorsements carefully, avoiding undue attention and cutting down on public appearances. ‘If that means turning down occasional events and making a polite excuse, that’s what she’s prepared to do,’ says the source.

Thankfully, that doesn’t mean that she is turning her back on acting. Jennifer has just announced her next project, Don’t Look Up, a Netflix comedy series about two astronomers facing the threat of an impending asteroid. For an actor who has so far focused on film and shied away from comedy, it’s another sign of her keenness to rewrite her own rules. She is also still working on a future comedy project with close friend Amy Schumer.

The relative normality of her life with Cooke has helped her on the journey. ‘She and Cooke have an active social circle, but it’s low-key,’ says a source. ‘They go to art galleries, have three-hour Italian dinners, visit comedy clubs or bars where people don’t bother them.’ According to the source, Jennifer was also greatly affected by revelations concerning Harvey Weinstein – a former collaborator – and this may have been a factor in her reappraising her approach to stardom.

Either way, Jennifer was 22 when she won an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook and, with such an ambition achieved so young, she wants to ensure she’s playing the long game. ‘She has accomplished so much but still has big ambitions,’ the source says. ‘But she wants to achieve her goals without fanfare and stress.’
