THE HFH COCKTAIL: A SUNNY AFTERNOON SPRITZ
No holiday is complete without a special drink, so Rich Woods, aka The Cocktail Guy and co-owner of the ultra-hip Scout Bar, has whipped up this gin number for Grazia. The verdict? ‘It isn’t summer until you’re sipping a spritz in the sun, and I love that this one evokes hazy summer evenings in the British countryside,’ says Hannah Lodge from cool drinking guide Barchick. ‘Raspberry sweetness is balanced out by the herbal tarragon and fizzed up with sparkling wine.’
INGREDIENTS
35ml gin or tarragon gin 30ml raspberry, pink pepper and juniper cordial (recipe below) Prosecco
Ice
Fill a large wine glass with ice. Add the gin and cordial and stir. Top up with prosecco.
FOR THE CORDIAL:
2g pink peppercorns 5g juniper berries 8 raspberries 150ml water
75g sugar
Crack the pink pepper and juniper berries and place in a sealable jam jar. Add the raspberries and water. Seal and shake to smash the raspberries. Leave to infuse for at least 6 hours. Filter through a fine strainer and weigh the liquid. Add 50% sugar and mix to dissolve. Bottle.
