Sophie Brinsford designs bold, geometric cotton textiles under the brand name Sophie Home.
What’s your backstory? I got a textile degree in knitting but I’m actually a terrible knitter! I have always loved the design process though, from initial concept to building a range, and I had lots of practice in that when I designed men’s socks and underwear for the high street. In 2013, I set up on my own. I launched with six pieces; my current collection has around 50.
Where do you work? From my home studio in the loft. Much of my work is done on the computer, but initial designs are scribbled down on whatever is closest.
What inspires you? Shape and form, and how colours work together. I am drawn to unexpected colour combinations. sophiehome.com; @sophiehome_london
