A SUPER six martial arts students from Inverclyde Cho’s Tae Kwon-Do Scotland were recently honoured to train with Grandmaster John Darcy.

John — the European director of the Action International Martial Art Association — is an eighth degree black belt and among the top three highest ranking members under 9th Dan Grandmaster Hee IL Cho.

The Inverclyde contingent, led by Master Charles Boyle, were among more than 120 students invited to train with Grandmaster Darcy at the Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre in Hamilton.

The seminar marked the first time since the pandemic that all of Scotland’s Tae Kwon Do clubs had been together.

Master Boyle said: “It was just great to see so many old and newer students and friends again.

“The seminar was over two extreme hours, with students ranging from 5th Dan black belts to [beginner] white belts.

“Grandmaster Darcy covered all aspects of Tae KwonDo along with a lot of core workouts, which Grandmaster Darcy takes straight from his training himself with Grandmaster Hee IL Cho.

“So it was a truly great event in many ways.”

Master Boyle added: “I had three new students who have never seen Grandmaster Darcy before, so they were excited to attend this amazing event.

“I’d just like to say well done to all of the students who travelled for the event from all over Scotland and Ireland and I hope they enjoyed the atmosphere to which they all contributed on the day.”
