WOW! What a transformation!
The first four renovated Fishermen’s Cottages on The Square are now available to rent – for less than £400 a month.
And they look fantastic. As previously reported, the company Galaxy of Homes was founded by husband and wife team Vikash and Madhurita Jayaswal in 2015, who wanted to create investment opportunities for landlords, while also helping to create safe and secure communities for people to live in by providing modern and well-maintained accommodation. They’ve spent millions renovating more than 300 derelict properties in Grimsby over the past couple of years and since August 2018, have been hard at work transforming their next batch of 40 properties; in the Nunsthorpe, West Marsh and East Marsh areas. The award-winning duo pride themselves on their high standard of homes at affordable prices, and have invested £14 million into the project.
This year Galaxy Letts was established, who let the properties out and assist landlords and tenants as a property management company. Vikash and Madhurita have just released four revitalised properties which are located in Grimsby’s The Square. The terraced properties all have one bedroom and are part of a project of 10 homes.
The former Grimsby Fishermen’s Cottages were previously owned by the Grimsby Sailors and Fishing Charity. They are made up of 20 linked single storey homes. They were once occupied by mariners, including many who worked on the trawlers during the fishing heyday in the town. As the industry declined, the one-bedroom homes became less popular, with high vacancy rates. The historic cottages offer modern, simplistic living ideal for individuals or couples looking to downsize and boast an open plan living kitchen area, which is tastefully decorated. Each property has been fitted with a new kitchen and the bedroom comes with a built in wardrobe and shelving to help get you started.
At the rear of the property and off the bedroom is a fantastic newly-fitted modern wet room. The cottages are otherwise unfurnished but can accommodate a single or double bed depending on your needs and space requirements.
An unusual aspect in this room, is you are able to gain access to the rear garden which has lawn and stone patio area; a perfect area for entertaining enclosed with a picket fence.
