Dog brasserie closes doors amid the Covid-19 crisis
A POPULAR dog brasserie has closed its doors amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Waggie Tail, on Sea View Street, in Cleethorpes, has announced its closure – saying it is “no longer a viable business”.
The brasserie, based in the former Queen’s Hotel, worked with Petit Delight in serving people and their four-legged friends food and drinks. Waggie Tail began serving its dog customers with specialities such as pupcakes and chicken chunks in 2018.
Business owner Louise Allenby devised a doggy menu and decorated the restaurant room with pictures of precious pooches. But Waggie Tail has now announced it has closed with “immediate” effect. A spokesperson said on Facebook: “Unfortunately we have made the decision to close Waggie Tail effective immediately.
“This isn’t a decision we have taken lightly, the impact of Covid-19 means it is no longer a viable business for us to operate moving forward.”
Petit Delight say they will still be allowing well-behaved dogs into their corner entrance and newlyrefurbished gardens.
The Waggie Tail spokesperson added: “As we are based in the old
Queen’s Hotel and work with Petit Delight, they will still be allowing well-behaved dogs in their corner entrance and also in their newlyrefurbished garden.
“We look forward to still seeing all our wonderful customers in the Petit Delight dog-friendly areas. Thank you for your support as always.”
Petit Delight reopened its doors for the first time since lockdown yesterday – with strict Covid-19 measures in place.
A Petit Delight spokesperson said: “Unfortunately Waggie Tail has had to close its doors. Dogs are still welcome in our corner entrance and our newly-refurbished garden. Thank you all for your support during these times.”
