A FORMER Grimsby father is still seeking justice for his son who was shot dead 20 years ago.

Tony Corley, who lived in Sixhills Street, Grimsby has continued to appeal for information about who murdered his son Mark, 23, in a field near Darlington.

Mark Corley was discovered in a field near the town in July 2000, with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was just 23 years old when a judge said he was “executed by a brutal shooting.”

He had gone missing from his home in Grantham six months earlier. Five suspects were then taken to court, with one charged with murder and others with conspiracy to murder. But the case was thrown out after it emerged police had bugged conversations between the defendants and their solicitors unlawfully in the exercise yards outside Sleaford and Grantham

It’s hard work, it really is. But I have come this far and I can’t stop - ever. I have to keep going for my son - I can never give up. All I can say is I want to know that I have done absolutely everything I could do.

Now, 20 years later, Mark’s dad Tony Corley is still working tirelessly to get the case back into court - and says he doesn’t ever plan on stopping.

He told: “Justice - that’s what keeps me going. I’m still angry with them. The person that took Mark’s life away from him, that’s who I want to see pay for what they have done.

There were angry shouts from people in the public seats when the case collapsed.

Mr Justice Newman said at the time: “Flagrant breaches of the law occurred.” Lincolnshire Police said they continue to conduct reviews into the case, which remains open.

The father appealed to anyone with information to contact him on tonycorley11@gmail.com
