SANTA’S visit to Cleethorpes is the latest Covid casualty.

His helpers at Cleethorpes Rotary Club have called off their annual carol singing and sleigh ride collection through the streets in aid of local good causes. Instead they have designed a 2021 calendar of Cleethorpes landmarks and images to make an ideal Christmas present. It has been sponsored by local businesses. It is selling for £5 in many shops. They hope it will go some way to alleviate the £8,000 loss. For over 40 years Cleethorpes Rotary Club has taken Santa Claus and his sleigh together with carols to the streets of Cleethorpes, collecting for local charities and children. In addition they had collections at Tesco and in St Peter’s Avenue Cleethorpes and last year nearly £8,000 was raised.

The money goes towards local charities and children over the course of the year. Last year, The Rotarians presented Queen een Mary Infant and Nursery School money for a new forest.

Club spokesman Richard Robinson said: aid: “This year because of Covid-19, it is likely ely that only the St Peter’s Avenue collection ion may be possible.

“To try and fill the gap, the club has come up with a charity calendar. ar. Each of the months in the he organiser calendar is gennerously sponsored by a local business and d contains a photo of Cleethorpes kindly y donated by Cleetho- rpes Camera Club so o that the entire sale price of £5 will go to charity.”

The calendars are available to be ordered through the club’s Facebook page, its website www. cleethorpesrotary.org, by email to rcoc@hotmail.co.uk and also through various local retailers, details of which are on the website and Facebook page.
