NEW INDIAN RESTAURANT SHARES ITS DELIGHTS
A NEWLY-opened Indian restaurant is on a mission to get people trying new flavours. Spice Fusion on Victoria Street is offering traditional dishes alongside some modern favourites.
Run by Jay Din, he’s hoping his combination of freshly prepared dishes and a flexibility to customer tastes will be a winner. He said: “What I’m aiming to bring is authentic dishes but with the flexibility to create new tastes for customers who come in unsure of what they want to try.
“We’re keen for people to try new things when they come here. I’m the sort of guy that is giving you a taste of something for free to see if you want to give it a go.
“We’re cooking all of the meals from scratch, using real ingredients to make real flavours.”
Spice Fusion, which opened on October 12, replaces the popular Monsoon Spice and is next door to the Hope and Anchor pub.
The restaurant will serve up some of the more modern favourites from Korma to Phall alongside house specialities such as Jhal Masala, Cafreal and Tava.
The restaurant is not Mr Din’s first venture as he has also headed up popular restaurant Mumbai in the Lake District town of Kendal.
Mr Din said: “I’m 40 years old now and I’ve been cooking in kitchens for a long time. All the way through I’ve been interested in creating fusions of flavours by blending real ingredients. “There won’t be any food colouring here, if it’s red, it is real saffron in that dish.
“I want to bring some new flavours and something that is a bit of a new experience to the area.” Spice Fusion, which also offers take-away, is open Wednesday to Monday from 5pm until 10pm and has twofor-one deals for dining-in throughout October.
