ANOTHER Grimsby school has confirmed a pupil has tested positive for coronavirus.

Old Clee Primary Academy issued a statement saying it was their first confirmed case since school resumed in September.

The child had been absent from school for a number of days and so no other pupils needed to self-isolate.

The school said: “While the Department for Education and Public Health England have told us there is no danger and no action that we need to take, as a school we wish to inform you that we have had a positive case in a child confirmed.

“This is our first confirmed case. Because the school and parent acted in accordance with all the procedures in a timely manner and the child has been absent from school for over six days, during the infectious period, the DfE and Public Health England have advised us there is no need for any action to be taken.” The statement added: “While we are under no obligation to relay this information to you, we have built up a strong mutual trust with our parents and know you would wish to be kept informed.

“We will endeavour to do this at all times as we move forward during more complex times.

“We wish to assure you all our stringent measures are in place and are keeping us all as safe as possible. “Can we take this opportunity to remind everyone of the need to abide by the ‘Hands, Face, Space’ rule and the ‘Rule of Six’ as we hear of more and more cases in our area.”

Old Clee is the latest school to confirm a case after Scartho Infants School confirmed over 70 pupils had been sent home until after half-term break as a precaution after a staff member had tested positive for coronavirus.

Lisle Marsden Church of England School announced that a number of pupils had been sent home after a student in Year Six and a student in Year Two tested positive in unrelated cases.

Weelsby Academy also reported a nursery child with a positive test result and parents took their children out of school.

A number of other schools have also sent pupils home to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
