TUESDAY’S episode of The Chase on ITV featured a local face as a Grimsby based accountant took on Chaser Jenny Ryan in the hopes of taking home some cash.

Caroline was born in Sleaford but has lived in Grimsby her whole life and was aiming to take home some money so that she and and her husband Dave could celebrate their ruby wedding anniversary.

You’re a very good player Caroline, seven grand, you’ve got to be happy with that! Bradley Walsh

The couple planned to spend any winnings on a trip to Neiderau in Austria which is a ski resort between Salzburg and Innsbruck which Caroline described as “absolutely gorgeous”. She told host Bradley Walsh about her midlife crisis at 45 which led to her passion for motorbikes and she is the proud owner of a Honda CBF500 which she described as being able to “move a little bit”.

Caroline went on to blitz the 60 second cash builder round answering seven out of nine questions correct giving her £7,000 to take into her game against the Chaser.

Bradley Walsh was impressed telling her: “You’re a very good player Caroline, seven grand, you’ve got to be happy with that!”

Chaser Jenny Ryan was less impressed, she said: “Hello cash counter Caroline, that was very good until the final question that made me think ‘thank god you’re an accountant and not a history teacher!’” Caroline was offered £1,000 as her low offer and £37,000 as her high offer. Advice from her team suggested that they thought she could compete for the higher offer but they were keen to have her back at the table and she opted for the safety of taking the £7,000 she had accumulated. Unfortunately for Caroline, it all fell apart during her round against Chaser Jenny Ryan who didn’t make a mistake when dispatching her challenger within five questions.

Caroline only managed two correct answers to the Chasers five meaning she was caught and out of the game. Bradley Walsh said: “Caroline, so sorry but no doubt you’ll get to go on holiday anyway!”

Chaser Jenny Ryan said: “With respect to Adam, that was a very good result for me, Caroline was a very strong player.

“She showed in the cash builder that she was going to be a big threat in the final.”
