INJURY BLOW FOR TOWN

HOLLOWAY SAYS HARROGATE ‘DID A JOB ON EDWARDS’

- By JAMES FINDLATER james.findlater@reachplc.com @JamieFin_

IAN Holloway is less than pleased with the treatment Owura Edwards received from Harrogate during Grimsby Town’s defeat on Tuesday night.

The Bristol City loanee is a major doubt for this weekend’s clash with Carlisle United after coming off just seven minutes into the Mariners’ midweek clash. Edwards has been one of

Town’s bright sparks so far this season, having impressed with energetic performances and played a big role in his side picking up their first win of the season last week, scoring the first in a 3-1 win over Cheltenham. Holloway believes the impact made by the 19-year-old earmarked him as a target for Harrogate on Tuesday night, and he wasn’t overly happy with the attention the Yorkshire side gave the young forward.

“They done him didn’t they?”

“They knew he was a threat, he caught him as much as he could and he got him off, so they did their job.

“For some people, winning is the be-all and end-all. For me, it’s still a sport and you shouldn’t take someone out.

“It is what it is, you’ve got to get on with it. You can only do what you can do, but they definitely did a job on one of our biggest threats on the night.”

Holloway is expected to make more changes for Saturday’s visit of Carlisle, with more of the players who started last weekend’s win over Leyton Orient expected to return. The Town boss has confirmed Owen Windsor, Matt Green, Danny Rose, Terry Taylor and George Williams will all come back into contention against the Cumbrians.

Max Wright, Elliott Hewitt and Sean Scannell all remain sidelined for the time being.
