FOUR MORE HOSPITAL PATIENTS DIE OF COVID-19

NORTHERN Lincolnshi­re has seen a significan­t drop in coronaviru­s cases as the region continues its steady decline from the second wave. Overall there have been 77 new cases across North and North East Lincolnshi­re, which is a big change from 135 cases announced on Thursday. Cases have been up and down this week, with 86 cases on Monday, 67 cases on Tuesday, and 115 on Wednesday.

In North East Lincolnshi­re there were 33 new cases reported on Friday, down from 71 on Thursday. This brings the overall total to 5,341 cases. With the lower cases this week, the area’s case rate has also dropped significan­tly. It now stands at 176 cases per 100,000 population, which puts them at 38th in the country.

North Lincolnshi­re had 44 new coronaviru­s cases on Friday, down from the 64 new cases on Thursday. The total number of cases now stands at 4,939. The case rate for North

Lincolnshi­re is now 41st in England, and currently stands at 171 cases per 100,000 population. But despite cases dropping for the area, the pressure on the NHS is still ongoing.

As of Friday morning, there were 141 Covid-19 patients in hospitals ran by the Northern Lincolnshi­re and Goole NHS Foundation Trust – 63 at Grimsby, 76 at Scunthorpe and two at Goole.

Of these, eight are in ICU – five at Grimsby and three at Scunthorpe.

Deaths in local hospitals have also continued despite the drop in cases.

Hospitals in northern Lincolnshi­re have tragically seven patients to coronaviru­s so far in December.

The latest daily figures revealed four new deaths - three on Tuesday, December 1 and another person sadly died from Covid on Wednesday, December 2.
