Coronavirus has claimed a life every day this month
MORE TRAGEDIES REPORTED BUT CASE NUMBERS FALLING
HOSPITALS in northern Lincolnshire have tragically lost patients to coronavirus every day so far in December as the NHS recorded four more deaths. The daily figures show three deaths happened on Tuesday, December 1 and another person sadly died from Covid on Wednesday, December 2. This takes the total so far in December to seven. A total of 253 patients have died from Covid19 in hospitals run by the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust since the pandemic began. With 126 deaths during the first wave between March and July, the death toll is approaching the point where the second wave will have been more deadly for northern Lincolnshire.
New coronavirus deaths are being confirmed daily.
October was the last time there was a day without at least one patient reported to have died.
The figures come as the number of Covid patients in hospitals continues to gradually fall.
As of Friday morning, there were 141
still patients being treated by Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
Sixty-three are in Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, with five in ICU. Another 76 are in Scunthorpe General Hospital, with three of those in intensive care.
A further two are being treated in Goole hospital.
The case rate has fallen dramatically for both North and North East Lincolnshire over the last two weeks. However, due to the lag in infected people becoming seriously ill, this improvement isn’t being reflected in the burden placed on hospitals yet. The latest NHS case rate for North East Lincolnshire is 184.9 cases per 100,000 people.
A total of 295 cases have been confirmed in the seven days leading up to December 1, according to the data. North Lincolnshire is also showing significant improvement at 179.9 per 100,000.
It has had 310 cases over the same time period.
Lincolnshire, which shares borders and population cross-over with these areas, is slightly higher at 226 per 100,000.
