1 in 3 deaths here are Covid-related
BUT CASE NUMBERS HAVE BEEN DROPPING
MORE than a third of deaths around northern Lincolnshire in recent weeks were related to coronavirus. However, hospitalisations, deaths and cases have been dropping in the region.
In the week ending November 27, 15 people died Covid-19-related deaths in North Lincolnshire, down from 18 the week before, according to figures released this week by the Office for National Statistics.
In North East Lincolnshire, there were 22 deaths in the most recent week, down from 28 a week before and 31 the prior week. Deaths related to Covid-19 made up 38 per cent of the total 39 deaths recorded in North Lincolnshire, while they were 36 per cent of the 61 deaths in North East Lincolnshire. The figures are based on the number of deaths registered up to December 5, where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate. Overall, there have been 160 deaths in North Lincolnshire involving Covid-19 between the start of the outbreak and November 27.
Of those deaths, most (125) took place in hospital, with 31 in care homes. There were also one death recorded at home, and three in hospices.
There have been 153 Covid-19-related deaths in North East Lincolnshire up to November 27. Of these, 87 were in hospital, 61 were in care homes, two were recorded at home, and three in hospices. Separate figures from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), show four deaths involving coronavirus in care homes in North Lincolnshire and 10 in North East Lincolnshire in the week ending December 4. The figures, also published this week, show a total of 44 Covid-19 related deaths were notified to the CQC by care homes in North Lincolnshire and 73 in North East Lincolnshire between April 10 and December 4. Meanwhile, figures from NHS England show there were 144 beds occupied by patients with a positive Covid-19 test at hospital trusts covering North Lincolnshire on December 1.
That compares to 167 beds occupied the week before, and 158 the week before that.
