‘What about people who are working Christmas Day?’

-

Emma Freeman: “No I don’t agree with it, I can go to work mixing with hundreds of other households , also my mum works in the same department as me but I can’t go to her house . Crazy!”

■ Sarah Groves: “I think instead of Boris saying this now it should have been done weeks ago then people wouldn’t have made plans. It maybe better if had had considered that some people will be working Christmas Day he could have at least given us Christmas Day and Boxing Day.” ■ Jadene Bennett: “I am working Xmas Day so I don’t get to see my family, thank you Boris! Could have at least said two days for those of us working.” ■ Paul Jackson: “No because our area should have moved to tier 2 and since nothing has changed for the worse in our area why should we suffer because London residents didn’t stick to the rules?” ■ Coreen PenheiroWharton: “Everyone should have been put into Tier 3 after the last lockdown. There should also have been clear guidance on social bubbles.

Unfortunately there has been different interpretations on who people can meet, where and how many. Unfortunately the government have let people use common sense, the majority have but it’s the minority who have ruined Christmas for millions. People should be grateful that we have advice on how to stay safe, that there is a vaccine which hasn’t taken years to develop and we have technology to keep in touch with our families and friends. Missing one Christmas is not the end of the world.”

■ Stacy Squire: “I’m spending my Xmas with my kids and family end of.”

■ Tim Palmer: “People have made plans and spent money to be with families , bringing these new rules in at the twelfth hour in unacceptable , I wonder how many people will ignore them?”

■ Karen Lidall: “Please everyone think of all the doctors and nurses who cannot be with their families and have to work looking after all of the people who are ill. We should all take a moment to think about them and not increase their work load.”

■ Dawn Talbot: “The timing is annoying but I see why it’s been done. I think Boris Johnson tried to keep to the original relaxed rules but he has had to act especially once other countries started to impose lockdowns.”
